Haunted

It's Not Happening

Subject A: The Girls, the shape and essence swirled. Ready to grow straight up; it's never soon enough. But for me, it's not happening. Listen to me. It's not happening. Subject B: The Girls, wired to rule the world. Needle-pointed eyes. They cut me down one size. It's time for a compromise, so we leave it undefined. They tell me to wait in line, then speak an absent mind; oh it's not happening. Say you agree. It's not happening. Listen I plead.

In The Ashes

You've come along, you're underneath the song. First on the plane, now on the beach. Thought I was alone. I left without my phone. Somehow you've stowed away with me. When the earth shakes, swallowed by the waves, you'll be swimming next to me. When the plane crashes, you'll be in the ashes and I'll breathe you into me. The weather's fine; what I had in mind, until I feel you like a breeze. You kept afloat when I escaped by boat. Thoughts of you come swimmin' across the sea. When the earth shakes, swallowed by the waves, you'll be swimming next to me. When the plane crashes, you'll be in the ashes and I'll breathe you into me.

This Is Why

Ever since I remember, I've held it in, held it all. Somehow I felt comfortable, behind my wall, behind it all. This is why I don't cry, this is why I don't cry. Tears, they only compromise, there's no need to visualize. This is why I don't cry, this is why I don't cry. Tears, they only minimize, everything I keep inside. I bet that you think I'm lonely. You may be right. I just might. And if you want me to break down, it'd be a sight, but not tonight. This is why I don't cry, this is why I don't cry. Tears, they only compromise, there's no need to visualize. This is why I don't cry, this is why I don't cry. Tears, they only minimize, everything I keep inside.

Epilogue

If I believed, if I believed what I'd been told, every day: to say no grace, every night, I couldn't stay here alone. If I leave this place, everything fades. What will my ghost embrace? Will my soul still fill a space? I walk the halls, endless stairs, here's where the floor starts to fade. With weakened knees, I sway two ways and fall to the floor where I prayed. It's not the same. I don't fall one way. One day my light laid wait. One night a nightfall sang. A fictional last few days, an epilogue ends and hangs.

Vixen

There is a little part of me that wants the best for you. Can't help but wish the best was me. Coquette I bet you'd say I am, a vixen ripe for play. You sound so sincere when you say, I'm an open book, despite my puzzled look, and coax me to confess to all I never meant. This is the absolute last time you'll fall in love with me. I nod my head like I agree. If I'm a siren in the night you aim in vain to fight, I'll fasten up my eyes and feign a mild surprise. If I'm a siren in the night you aim in vain to fight, I'll fasten up my eyes and feign a mild surprise. You're free but if you need me, I'll be here always. You say jump, I say how high? You say leave, I say goodbye.

Angels and Angles

On with the heart of the matter. The conversation blushed, with a swift redirection: But how are you? What have you done? I've found, what abounds at my own leisure, is still no resolution made, I come to stay only for moments. But how were you when I was gone? Once carved in two halves, both sway a bit upside. Angels and angles; I am the new divide. Retrace, about face, retreat when undermined. Capsize and sink till you think and swim, aligned. The change still unchanged, I pivot with new pace with all but truth so help him. God spoken out loud; a wish left unmade now. But where was I when I was gone? Once carved in two halves, both sway a bit upside. Angels and angles; I am the new divide. Retrace, about face, retreat when undermined. Capsize and sink till you think and swim, aligned.

Sustaining

Imagine me in L.O.V.E. Probability in favor of things. It must be intrigue to some lesser degree. Never again, I promised myself a thousand times. You're an unfamiliar place. I know it sounds insane. I'm safer tucked away here. Though you're still too far away, the sound of you sustains loud enough to wake me. Soon you will see the mess M.A.D.E. Sensibility is not fight over flee. It's just not my thing. With foresight I foresee. And now by no means, I vowed to myself time after time. You're an unfamiliar place. I know it sounds insane. I'm safer tucked away here. Though you're still too far away, the sound of you sustains loud enough to wake me. L.O.V.E H.A.S. been M.A.D.E. I can see the difference but I can't guarantee O.N.L.Y I.N.T.R.I.G.U.E I may find you sustaining longer than you should be. It's sad but true. I promise that I can guarantee an L.O.V.E M.E.S.S M.A.D.E I can see the difference and it's only intrigue. L.O.V.E. S.U.S.T.A.I.N.E.D You're an unfamiliar place. I know it sounds insane. I'm safer tucked away here. Though you're still too far away, the sound of you sustains loud enough to wake me.

Main Street

Self-assured with a cold heart. I was sure the words had failed us. So roundabout, I take the curtains down, sweep beneath chairs, the un-answered prayers. Now I'm haunted by a longing so early in the morning. It greets me without warning. Coincidence. I see you today, we small talk but time gets in the way, so I clip the clock's wings, we talk about smart things. Find myself smiling for the first time in days. Now I'm haunted by a longing, this afternoon on main street. You're smiling and oh, how apropos. I once had an ending but now I have the go. I laugh when you say "flowers say what they mean", cause roundabout, you say the funniest things. Now I'm haunted by a longing so late in the evening. It greets me with a warning.

For Life

Wild nights, were I with thee, wild nights should be our luxury. Futile the winds to a heart in port. Done with the compass. Done with the chart. I sang to use the waiting, I didn't have to try. I'll shut the door to my house; No more to seek have I. Such a little thing to weep, so short a thing to sigh; and yet by trades the size of these we men and women die! You say goodnight like starting tonight You plan to say it the rest of my life. Wild nights, were I with thee, wild nights should be our luxury. Futile the winds to a heart in port. Done with the compass. Done with the chart. Such a little thing to weep, so short a thing to sigh; and yet by trades the size of these we men and women die! You walk outside And for a short time it seems just like for keeps and for life. Do I dare write the words or recite on of the off chance that this might be right?

(Speaking parts adapted from two poems by Emily Dickenson Waiting and Such a Little Thing)

No or Yes

The moment I sigh and decide, sure, I'll grow used to these lonely nights, the wind, it blows and I change my mind; feel a familiar shiver down my spine. Now it's noon; the clock tower chimes. How long have I been wasting all my time? A typical damsel in distress and all my life up to this request. Why can't I just say no or yes when I clearly know which one is best? I look in the window, but it's full of lies. Tell myself, walk on by, but my heart replies, "you'll run yourself to your own demise if you keep building your bridges on land mines." Now it's two; the clock tower chimes. Look at me still wasting all my time. A typical damsel in distress and all my life up to this request. Why can't I just say no or yes when I clearly know which one is best?

Spin

Who are you fooling? It's not Russian Roulette. I'm not gonna sit this one out. It's suicide you decide, be it left be it right maybe wrong? While you let it out of your sight first it's left then it's right till it's gone. If you're a point on a line, the rolling figure is mine. And I'm still gonna roll round and round. How about a small wager? I know you need another player. I want you to know how it feels. I'm all for spinning that wheel. But who are you fooling? it's not Russian Roulette. Save the last one for me. It's suicide you decide, be it left be it right maybe wrong? While you let it outta your sight first it's left then it's right till it's gone. The clock may never unwind, the day and night combined. I'm not gonna fall asleep this time. I've been brave. Tell me again to behave. You alter the laws of chance with a touch of your hand. How about a small wager? I know you need another player. I want you to know how it feels. I'm all for spinning that wheel. But who are you fooling? It's not Russian Roulette. I'm not gonna sit this one out.

Moonwalking

Cold feet, but not like the cold that I used to know. The back beat; sounds as if I'm hearing it over the phone. One day the moon just changed, I didn't know until I watched the stars alone. I'd have never known. And I forgot, not to watch for the sun to rise. And there was the moon, posed alongside in the same sky. Moonwalking, the stars have eyes, open even when the sun is high. Moon bathing, in space not time, I might need you when I'm out of light. It's light outside, he's only needed when the sun is gone. A cosmic white, let him leave, let him right his wrongs. Moonwalking, the stars have eyes, open even when the sun is high. Moon bathing, in space not time, I might need you when I'm out of light. Closer now, white, forthright, you're no fire, but you're warm and bright. Aurora night, a moon-like light, till the shine drowns the eventide.
